Time To Read Something Else

Posted by TRO on April 18, 2008

Time Magazine makes a sorry attempt to equate the “war on global warming” with World War II, and more specifically the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Let’s put aside the fact that global warming is still very much in dispute, as is man’s contribution to it, if it does exist at all. The morphing of this iconic photograph of US Marines raising our Flag into a photograph of dyslexic lumberjacks raising a tree while wearing military surplus is insulting and belittles these brave warriors.

The editors who made the decision to publish this horrid photoshop should be ashamed. They aren’t though and more is the pity.

The Whine Critic Versus The General

Posted by TRO on April 10, 2008

What’s that old saying? “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

Gen. David H. Petraeus may be as impressive a military professional as the United States has developed in recent years, but he could use some strategic advice on how to manage his sartorial PR. Witness his congressional testimony on the state of the war in Iraq. There he sits in elaborate Army regalia, four stars glistening on each shoulder, nine rows of colorful ribbons on his left breast, and various other medallions, brooches and patches scattered across the rest of the available real estate on his uniform. He even wears his name tag, a lone and incongruous hunk of cheap plastic in a region of pristine gilt, just in case the politicians aren’t sure who he is.

That’s a lot of martial bling, especially for an officer who hadn’t seen combat until five years ago. Unfortunately, brazen preening and “ribbon creep” among the Army’s modern-day upper crust have trumped the time-honored military virtues of humility, duty and personal reserve.

Matthew Debord, a gnat of a man whose only apparent contribution to society is in the form of that manliest of professions, the wine critic, has removed all doubt.

He’s an ignorant fool too, since he has no knowledge of the rules governing the wear of decorations, medals, badges and insignia on military uniforms. At least none that he communicated in his silly Boone’s Farm-quality opinion piece.

Envy is more than just a perfume, Matthew. You really should pick a fight with someone in a similarly meaningful profession . . . say a movie critic or Project Runway judge.

American warriors are out of your league.

Listen Up Jews**

Posted by TRO on April 9, 2008

You better support Obama or we won’t be your friends anymore. (NOTE: They pulled the post from the Obama’O8 site. Predictable and typical. And what I quoted down below was just a quarter of the ranting that was there. A link to screenshots of what was posted in total down below in the update.)

Enough is enough.

America has suffered enough of Clintonitis.

Americans have spoken loud and clear: they do not want political business as usual that Clintonitis represent.

They want change and they want it fast.

They have chosen and anointed Obama as the agent of change.

He is the new political Messiah who shall continue where JFK stopped.

Americans seem to be in slumber and in complete denial of the present dangerous and volatile world situation.

This is where Jews can help.

By supporting Obama to win, they would cure America of Clintonitis and thereby be able to find a permanent solution to the Arab-Jewish problem in the Middle East.

Jews must support Obama or face grave consequences. You cannot afford not to.

Africans have been nice and helped Jews for more than 2000 yrs.

Now, I say to Jews all over the world, it is time to show your gratitude.

Well, now, if I were Jewish that would certainly sway me. I just love friends who threaten me if I don’t do what they say. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

This is posted on the official Obama’08 website, which I assume means he approved it. If so, how sad. If not, does he have any control over anyone in his own campaign?

I’m not sure how long it will be up, though, once people start hammering him on it. So check it out now. There’s lots more.

Hat-tip to Ace.

UPDATE:

They pulled it from the site. What did I tell you? However, if you want to see screenshots of what this anti-semitic screed looked like check em out over here. (Click the link and then scroll down some to see links to the screenshots.)

** BTW, I don’t like this title. It grates on me for some reason. But it conveys the attitude of the moron who wrote this now “disappeared” post over at Obama08.

Ted Turner Is Channeling Charlton Heston

Posted by TRO on April 3, 2008

Ted Turner says global warming will turn us into cannibals in 40 years. That long? Too bad. I know a few tasty brunettes I would put on my menu right now.

See, this is the problem with the new religion called global warming. The believers know they aren’t convincing enough of us fast enough so they start throwing out this moronic nonsense to scare people - mostly kids. I have no doubt that in a few days my youngest son will come home quoting his new-age teacher about how we will have to eat each other to survive when he grows up if we don’t go green.

Plus, Ted Turner is just bat-sh*t crazy. And his restaurants suck. too.

You can read a transcript of this interview here. Turner goes on to show amazing ignorance of our military and our enemies. Frankly, I think the guy may be senile.

How Proud Their Parents Must Be

Posted by TRO on March 24, 2008

Three dickless guys and three butt-ugly women disrupt Easter Mass at a Chicago Catholic church in an anti-war protest.  (Pictures at the link.)

A few observations:

1) The group is called “Catholic Schoolgirls Against The War” and from what I see there were indeed six schoolgirls involved in the disruption - that includes the three wussy guys, of course.

2)  Where are the short plaid skirts and white knee-socks?  They are Catholic schoolgirls after all.

3)  Like I said, the Catholic Church is against the war, so why interrupt a Catholic Mass?  Morons.

4)  Kudos to the Cardinal for asking if they were okay when that girl screamed like a whiny little bitch.  At least I think it was a girl.  It might have been one of the guys.

5) If they had sprayed anything on me I would have physically defended myself and my family (i.e. punched them in their respective faces).  I would have claimed self-defense since I would have thought they were spraying me with something dangerous.  That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

UPDATE:

These six morons have had some serious bail set - from $25,000 to $30,000 - and have been charged with felonies.  Good.  I just hope the Cardinal doesn’t feel sorry for them and not press charges.  And even if he does I hope some hard-assed parishioners who got splattered presses charges in his stead.

Also, check out the picture of one of the protesters, Ryane Ziemba, at the link. He either got his butt kicked recently or has one hell of a nasty skin rash he got from who knows where. Eww.

UPDATE:

The video was taken down.  Leftist nuts don’t like looking like, well, leftist nuts.

Marines In Berkeley

Posted by TRO on March 14, 2008

A Daily Show video skewering the anti-war nut group, Code Pink, and its moronic and pathetic attacks on Marine recruiters in Berkeley. I can’t get it to embed, but it is absolutely hilarious.  Go see it, you will not be disappointed.

Best interchange between the disguised Marine Reservist/Daily Show Correspondent and a Code Pick dimwit who is spouting-off about their free speech rights:

Disguised Marine: “If only there was an organization that was sworn to protect free speech? ”

Totally Clueless Code Pink Dimwit: “Wouldn’t that be great.”

Disguised Marine:  “That would be outstanding. Righttt?”

Ten Things

Posted by TRO on March 14, 2008

1. Welcome to the preview of a Democratic president and congress and say hello to higher taxes. But the money will be for the children, right?

2. Welcome to the world of the Pastor of Barack Hussein and Michelle Obama, a man who  is Obama’s acknowledged “spiritual mentor” for 20 years, married the couple, baptized their kids and who’s sermon titled “Audacity of Hope” was the inspiration for Obama’s book of the same name:

  • “The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,” he said in a 2003 sermon. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”
  • “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,” Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
  • “We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he told his congregation.
  • “We started the AIDS virus . . . We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty. . . .”

Nope, he’s not Obama, but you know darn well that people don’t belong to churches for decades unless they believe what the pastor and the rest of the congregation believes.  If they don’t, they leave for other churches. It’s science (not to get into a whole faith/science debate here).   And by the way.  He raised his kids in this church listening to this crap.  What kind of people do that?   How good is his raved-about judgement if he does that?  And to make things worse - he simply will not dump the guy.  He downplays it and says he doesn’t agree but then makes excuses for this racist while at the same time playing the race card on anyone who criticises him about anything.  This isn’t the way a man who is supposed to be a “race healer, not a race warrior” should act.

3. Speaking of science - sort of anyway - the founder of the Weather Channel is suing Al Gore for fraud over scam that is global warming.  Sweet.

4.  Anti-war reporting is helping Iraqi insurgents. Well, duhhh. This war has without a doubt been more difficult, costly, and lasted longer due to the main stream media’s concentration on bad news and anti-war rhetoric rather than good news (of which there has been plenty), pro-American stories, and tales of our many heroes over there. There are so many people here in America who should be ashamed for supporting out enemies this way.  Despite this bombardment of bad news, it appears that only 18 percent of Americans think we should withdraw immediately from Iraq. Wow. Americans really do prefer winning over losing.

5.  The Tennessee flying saucer house. I’ve seen it in person. It’s pretty cool.

6. Man celebrates his 100th birthday at Hooters. Viva Viagra!

7.  More Obama news. Seems he got $1,000,000 in earmarks for the Chicago hospital where his wife is Vice President of Community Affairs. At a sweet salary of $316,962 which is an increase from $121,910 just before her husband was elected to the Senate. Coincidence, I am sure.  I’m also sure they are she is worth every penny.

8.  And what about that Al Quaeda - Saddam connection?  You know the one that Democrats say never existed and Republicans say did, but have been hard-pressed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt?  Well, it looks like there was one after all.

Captured Iraqi documents have uncovered evidence that links the regime of Saddam Hussein to regional and global terrorism, including a variety of revolutionary, liberation, nationalist and Islamic terrorist organizations. While these documents do not reveal direct coordination and assistance between the Saddam regime and the al Qaeda network, they do indicate that Saddam was willing to use, albeit cautiously, operatives affiliated with al Qaeda as long as Saddam could have these terrorist-operatives monitored closely. Because Saddam’s security organizations and Osama bin Laden’s terrorist network operated with similar aims (at least in the short term), considerable overlap was inevitable when monitoring, contacting, financing, and training the same outside groups. This created both the appearance of and, in some way, a “de facto” link between the organizations. At times, these organizations would work together in pursuit of shared goals but still maintain their autonomy and independence because of innate caution and mutual distrust. Though the execution of Iraqi terror plots was not always successful, evidence shows that Saddam’s use of terrorist tactics and his support for terrorist groups remained strong up until the collapse of the regime.

There’s no “smoking gun” in this report, but as a criminal and counterintelligence investigator with 24 years experience I can tell you that most cases are made with circumstantial evidence not smoking guns. This is good stuff. There was a connection. Not that any Democrat is ever going to believe it, but there was a connection.

9. It keeps coming back to Obama. This time he voted against his own tax and spending bill. You know, the one he keeps campaigning on. Makes your head spin, I tell ya.

10.  I don’t care who she is, no way I would pay this unless I get to play with those hooters.  She would also have to promise not to talk all evening.

UPDATE:

To Number 2 above:  Obama has now called Wright’s statements “inflammatory and appalling” and adds:

“Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy,” he said in the statement. “I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it’s on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.”

Took him long enough. And I suppose I should take him at his word, but to be truthful I don’t believe him at all. He had to do this after all the race-cards he had been throwing at Hillary or he wouldn’t be able to throw anymore. Still, politically it lets the MSM off the hook as they can now call the incident over and move on to other things. They hated covering it, the little they did, and this means they concentrate on Hillary and McCain again.

Plus, his statement isn’t all it seems to be. Okay, maybe they are over-analyzing it, but hey, it’s not like he’s the only candidate that has been subject to analyzing.  Then again, his distancing himself from Wright was predicted by the parties involved.

Anti-war Injustice

Posted by TRO on March 7, 2008

But don’t say this judge doesn’t support the troops.

A California judge rejected a foster teen’s request for early enlistment with the Marine Corps — and a $10,000 signing bonus — reportedly on the grounds that the judge didn’t approve of the Iraq war.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Marilyn Mackel denied 17-year-old Shawn Sage’s request to join the military last October, according to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News.

“The judge said she didn’t support the Iraq war for any reason we’re over there,” Marine recruiter Sgt. Guillermo Medrano of the Simi Valley U.S. Marine Corps recruiting office told the paper.

“She just said all recruiters were the same — that they ‘all tap dance and tell me what I want to hear.’ She said she didn’t want him to fight in it.”

Sage, a Simi Valley, Calif., resident, begged the anti-war judge for permission to join, according to the Daily News.

“Foster children shouldn’t be denied [an] ability to enlist in the service just because they’re foster kids,” Sage told the paper. “Foster kids shouldn’t have to go to court to gain approval to serve one’s country.”

Sage plans to join the Marines when he turns 18 in June and his case has prompted a Republican lawmaker to introduce a bill that would allow foster teens to enlist in the military without the express permission of a judge.

Oh screw it, of course she doesn’t support the troops.  No one in the fricken anti-war movement - Code Pink and the rest - really supports the troops.

They are all lying sacks of poo.

To Crush Your Enemies. To See Them Driven Before You. And To Hear The Lamentations Of their Women.

Posted by TRO on December 27, 2007

They say that age begets wisdom, but really some times it just makes you weird and smelly, as seems to be the case with Dave Lindorff, a Philadelphia “award winning” journalist and former New York Times contributor, who thinks the answer to the Red State problem is Global Warming.

The area that will by completely inundated by the rising ocean—and not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats—are the American southeast, including the most populated area of Texas, almost all of Florida, most of Louisiana, and half of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as goodly portions of eastern Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. While the northeast will also see some coastal flooding, its geography is such that that aside from a few projecting sandbars like Long Island and Cape Cod, the land rises fairly quickly to well above sea level. Sure, Boston, New York and Philadelphia will be threatened, but these are geographically confined areas that could lend themselves to protection by Dutch-style dikes. The West Coast too tends to rise rapidly to well above sea level in most places. Only down in Southern California towards the San Diego area is the ground closer to sea level. So what we see is that huge swaths of conservative America are set to face a biblical deluge in a few more presidential cycles.

Then there’s the matter of the Midwest, which climate experts say is likely to face a permanent condition of unprecedented drought, making the place largely unlivable, and certainly unfarmable. The agribusinesses and conservative farmers that have been growing corn and wheat may be able to stretch out this doomsday scenario by deep well drilling, but west of the Mississippi, the vast Ogallala Aquifer that has allowed for such irrigation is already being tapped out. It will not be replaced.

So again, we will see the decline and depopulation of the nation’s vast midsection—noted for its consistent conservatism. Only in the northernmost area, around the Great Lakes (which will be not so great anymore), and along the Canadian border, will there still be enough rain for farming and continued large population concentrations, but those regions, like Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois, are also more liberal in their politics.

Finally, in the Southwest, already parched and stiflingly hot, the rise in energy costs and the soaring temperatures will put an end to right-wing retirement communities like Phoenix, Tucson and Palm Springs. Already the Salton Sea is fading away and putting Palm Springs on notice that the good times are coming to an end. Another right-wing haven soon to be gone.

So the future political map of America is likely to look as different as the much shrunken geographical map, with much of the so-called “red” state region either gone or depopulated.

There is a poetic justice to this of course. It is conservatives who are giving us the candidates who steadfastly refuse to have the nation take steps that could slow the pace of climate change, so it is appropriate that they should bear the brunt of its impact.

The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively, need to remember that, when they begin their historic migration from their doomed regions, we not give them the keys to the city. They certainly should be offered assistance in their time of need, but we need to keep a firm grip on our political systems, making sure that these guilty throngs who allowed the world to go to hell are gerrymandered into political impotence in their new homes.

There will be much work to be done to help the earth and its residents—human and non-human—survive this man-made catastrophe, and we can’t have these future refugee troglodytes, should their personal disasters still fail to make them recognize reality, mucking things up again.

It should be considered acceptable, in this stifling new world, to say, “Shut up. We told you this would happen.”

Okay, I don’t know if he really smells, but he doesn’t look much different from that homeless guy I see walking down the road pushing that shopping cart every morning on my way to work (he probably owns cats, too) so I suspect that he might.

Regardless, I’ve got news for him. If rising waters and higher temps did indeed force us Red Staters into the Blue States you can bet your ass we would move in and own those wussy elitist-non-gun-owning-left-wingers faster than Conan can slice a broadsword through Michael Moore’s fat neck. Hell, we’ve got more personal firepower than some nations and you think we wouldn’t bring it with us?

Of course, all the sensible Blue Staters - same conservatives and sane liberals - would be welcome to join us in a new society while Mr. Lindorff grabs a shopping cart and roams the alleys looking for food and what’s left of his rational mind.

Footnote:

I am not even addressing the fact that rising sea levels would force all those Blue Staters (California, Washington, Oregon, New York and the rest of the northeast, etc.) into our territory and not the other way around. For a guy who is so worried about global warming he has a very poor understanding of the issue, doesn’t he?

 UPDATE:

It was pointed out to me in comments by a very wicked, but also very beautiful, brunette that I had used “lamenations” instead of “lamentations” in the title.   I am slightly embarrassed by this, but not horribly embarassed because all I did was cut and paste the damn thing from a quote on the internets. (And I do mean internets not internet - it’s a net/political joke).  Anyway, what amazes me most is it took so long for anyone to point it out.
