Above His Pay Grade

Is the answer Barry gave at Saddleback Mega-Church when asked, “At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?”

Whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is, you know, above my pay grade.

Now, that’s exactly what I want in a president. Someone who doesn’t realize that there is no one above his pay grade. In the entire fricken world. Except Michelle maybe, as she is the “first leader he would consult as president.”

She is a leader? Of what exactly? I mean I am sure she wears the pants in that family, but otherwise I don’t see her leading anything. And even if she does, I don’t think I want my president going to someone who has never been proud of America for advice.

McCain on the other hand answered this question succinctly with, “At the moment of conception.” Which in five words probably sewed-up the evangelical and faithful Catholic votes. (At least most of it. Some will never accept anything less than the perfect answer on the abortion issue which in the long-run actually hurts their cause.)

(On the other hand, McCain said he would consult with General Petraeus when asked what leader he would consult with first. That choice alone is reason to vote for the man.)

McCain dominated this event. His answers were straight forward and commanding. It was like he knew what was going to be asked before it was asked. Barry looked weak and ill-prepared, reaching for answers that he probably isn’t sure about because he changes his mind every other day. Surely, the liberal bloggers and talking heads are saying Barry did well, but the reactions of the audience members is what mattered and they were solidly behind McCain. This is important because McCain needed to shore up support among evangelicals and faithful Catholics and I am sure he succeeded in doing so here while Barry lost them almost completely.

Also, and this is important, Barry had several wimpy, winding answers just like the one above that are going to haunt him in McCain and RNC campaign commercials from now until the election, including one where he actually said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was too inexperienced for the job. (He actually cut himself off in mid-word but it was clear what he was saying.)

Barry thinks someone was too inexperienced for a job?

Oh the irony.

To sum up, McCain came across as a serious, experienced man who is ready for the job of president. Barry came across as someone who should be applying for the job of guru. Or is that above his pay grade, too? I’m thinking so.

I am becoming more and more confident that McCain is going to win this thing. Daily tracking polls show the two men tied with Barry losing support like the Titanic taking on water. And the ads that this event will generate will only lose more of that independent vote he so badly needs to win. And if McCain does as well in the debates as he did here (and Barry does as badly), well, he won’t just win this thing. He may just win it big.

Powerline talks about some other questions asked and the answers given.

UPDATE:

“A staff sergeant’s answer to a general’s question.” ~ Don Surber on Barry’s “above my pay grade” answer. So very true.

  1. Yeah, and Barry quoted from Matthew, which makes me think Barry’s a big kiss ass.

  2. You don’t have anything vested in Obama or McCain. They are both bought and paid for by the SAME pacs and lobbies.

Since you were so royally lied to by George Bush and the Republicans the last time what makes you so gullible this time that you take what they say at face value. They will tell you whatever you want to hear and then get into office and do as they please.

The issue that you should be concerned about is Globalism. The United States now has neoliberal economic policies. That means that both candidates support a mass human migration to America for cheap labor.

The United Nations perdicts that by 2040 we will be overwhelmed with immigrants from Africa, Asia and the MIddle East. Christians and white people will be a MINORITY. Islam will be the dominant religion. You should be worried that Obama is a Muslim. Get used to it.

I know he is not perfect but you should support Ralph Nader, votenader.org

Nader is the ONLY candidate who opposes Globalism and who will do something to stop immigration.

Is Nader Christian. No. But he is the only Savior you boys have.

  3. Ahhh, even if I agreed with anything you said (which I don’t), I just have to point out the obvious fact that Nader cannot win. You might as well not vote if you are voting for Nader.

  4. “They will tell you whatever you want to hear and then get into office and do as they please.”

    Duh! Really? Ya think?

    And I’m not a boy.

  5. What don’t you agree with?

I just have to point out the obvious fact that only candidates who sell out to the ruling financial elites have a chance at the nomination. What sense does it make to give them your vote.

If people would vote for Nader he could win.

We could send the message that we are sick of what both major parties are doing and that we want someone who will represent OUR interests for a change.

You may as well not vote as to vote for McCain or Obama. They will continue with the awful neoliberal policies already being forced upon us.

Globalism is real. Read the link above to learn about immigrants.

Also read economyincrisis.org to learn about other effects of Globalism.

  6. Got your point. Globalism is bad. Swarthy immigrants even worse. No need to say more.

  7. I could be wrong, but I’m guessing Obama’s “above my pay-grade” answer was a terribly oblique, too-cryptic reference to God. But I could be wrong.

I saw only a little of McCain’s interview, last night, but I was more impressed with him than I’ve been in a long time. If he was lying on any answer I heard, he was awfully good at it.

  8. No doubt that is how he is going to spin it, Vicki, and even if he meant it that way, I don’t think that answer endeared him with the anti-abortion evangelicals and Catholics. Both groups he needs to win.

  9. Oh and one more thing. He mentions science in his answer so it wasn’t just God he was referring to. It was man.
