“At The Moment Of Orgasm, Women Do Not Have Any Emotional Feelings.”

Posted by TRO on May 16, 2008

Who woulda thought the guys were the emotional ones?

[Looking at the brains of orgasming men using a PET scanner] scientists also saw heightened activity in brain regions involved in memory-related imagery and in vision itself, perhaps because the volunteers used visual imagery to hasten orgasm. The anterior part of the cerebellum also switched into high gear. The cerebellum has long been labeled the coordinator of motor behaviors but has more recently revealed its role in emotional processing. Thus, the cerebellum could be the seat of the emotional components of orgasm in men, perhaps helping to coordinate those emotions with planned behaviors. The amygdala, the brain’s center of vigilance and sometimes fear, showed a decline in activity at ejaculation, a probable sign of decreasing vigilance during sexual performance.

To find out whether orgasm looks similar in the female brain, [neuroscientist Gert] Holstege’s team asked the male partners of 12 women to stimulate their partner’s clitoris—the site whose excitation most easily leads to orgasm—until she climaxed, again inside a PET scanner. Not surprisingly, the team reported in 2006, clitoral stimulation by itself led to activation in areas of the brain involved in receiving and perceiving sensory signals from that part of the body and in describing a body sensation—for instance, labeling it “sexual.”

But when a woman reached orgasm, something unexpected happened: much of her brain went silent. Some of the most muted neurons sat in the left lateral orbitofrontal cortex, which may govern self-control over basic desires such as sex. Decreased activity there, the researchers suggest, might correspond to a release of tension and inhibition. The scientists also saw a dip in excitation in the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex, which has an apparent role in moral reasoning and social judgment—a change that may be tied to a suspension of judgment and reflection.

Brain activity fell in the amygdala, too, suggesting a depression of vigilance similar to that seen in men, who generally showed far less deactivation in their brain during orgasm than their female counterparts did. “Fear and anxiety need to be avoided at all costs if a woman wishes to have an orgasm; we knew that, but now we can see it happening in the depths of the brain,” Holstege says. He went so far as to declare at the 2005 meeting of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Development: “At the moment of orgasm, women do not have any emotional feelings.”

No, they get all lovey-dovey afterward when they want you to cuddle and spend the night. Men, on the other hand, are emotional before and during when we say things like, “Sure, I love you babe, now how does this bra come off?” or “Gawd, I love your tits!” while we’re rocking and rolling.

It gets me all teary-eyed just thinking about how we pour out hearts and souls into our relationships and you gals are just in it for fun.

I feel used.

Seven Things

Posted by TRO on May 16, 2008

1. “Obama’s sniper moment?” Not quite as exciting, but just as telling.

2. Gay marriage is legal in California now. I personally believe marriage should be defined as the union of one man and one woman, but I also believe that this decision should be left up to the states. The problem here is the voters of each state should be the ones to make that decision, not some elite group of activist judges. My understanding is that there will be a voter referendum in November on this issue and, unless the electorate there has changed significantly in the past few years, this will be decided differently. Such is the will of the people.

3. “In this wonderful post-partisan, post-racial era, someone forgot to tell the liberal media establishment and their beloved candidate that sexism is passé.” Oh, they know it. They just don’t care. And actually, they never really bought into it in the first place. Identity politics is just something the Dems use to obtain power. Some identities are more useful than others and in this case it’s just easier to cast aside the woman. But there’s a lot of pissed-off women out there - I know one - and she is not at all happy about what the Dems are doing to her gal, Hillary. So unhappy, in fact, that she says she will vote McCain if Hillary is cast-aside.

4. Behind The Scenes: Bill O’Reilly On Inside Edition. Funny, but some profanity.

5. There is a holiday for everything. Hat-tip to Groovy who seems to enjoy this idea a lot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

6. I’ve been telling women for years that you can get a big bang out of a small package, but now there’s proof.

7. “What Hitler was demanding was not unreasonable.” So says a Seattle Times Editor, apparent Hitler fan, and Obama supporter in defending Obama’s terrorist appeasement policy. God help us if this man is elected our president.

Lori Drew Indicted

Posted by TRO on May 16, 2008

This is good news.

A federal grand jury in Los Angeles indicted a Missouri woman Thursday for her alleged role in a MySpace hoax on a teen neighbor who committed suicide after being spurned by the “boy” in the fake profile.

Lori Drew, of Dardenne Prairie near St. Louis, was charged with one count of conspiracy and three counts of accessing protected computers without authorization to obtain information to inflict emotional distress on the girl.

Drew allegedly helped create a false-identity MySpace account to contact Megan Meier, who thought she was chatting with a 16-year-old boy named “Josh Evans.”

Megan, 13, hanged herself at home in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages, including one stating the world would be better off without her.

Drew’s attorney, Jim Briscoe, did not return FOXNews.com’s requests for comment about the indictment.

Drew has denied creating the account and sending messages to Megan.

There’s a copy of the indictment at the link.  I hope justice is served in this case.  Long, hard, sweaty justice in a woman’s correctional facility.

Thou Dost Protest Too Much, Methinks

Posted by TRO on May 16, 2008

So President Bush says this during in his speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel.

Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along,” the President said to the country’s legislative body, “We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is –- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.

And Barry Obama, egomaniac that he is, gets all insulted and responds with this.

“Instead of tough talk and no action, we need to do what Kennedy, Nixon and Reagan did and use all elements of American power — including tough, principled, and direct diplomacy — to pressure countries like Iran and Syria. George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the president’s extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel.”

So the White House Press Secretary responds with this.

“I understand when you are running for office sometimes you think the world revolves around you. That is not always true and it is not true in this case. The president is president regardless of an election cycle and he is going to be president of the United States through January 20, 2009,” Perino said.

“We are not going to change policy based on the ‘08 election. We are not going to stop talking about the ideals of the United States because there is an ‘08 election. They can fight it out over there but this is not new policy.”

And then Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said this.

“Bush’s outrageous comments are an embarrassment to our country, not based in fact and bring us no closer to our goal of ending terrorist attacks against Israel and bringing peace to the region. If John McCain is really serious about being a different kind of Republican, he’ll denounce these remarks in the strongest terms possible.”

And not to be outdone, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Bush’s remarks were “unworthy” and added that “any serious person” should disassociate himself from those remarks.

Awfully defensive, those Democrats. Especially Barry, who seems to think the entire world revolves around his hope and change.

Truth is, the truth hurts. The Democrats are the party of appeasement. Jimmy Carter is the elder statesman of this despicable appeasement policy and Barry is doing his best to carry on the Carter tradition.
