The Reluctant Optimist

Double Standard

Posted by TRO on May 14, 2008

Liberals hate it when politicians mix religion and politics. Well, except when it’s a liberal doing it.

I wonder . . . is that the Reverend Wright’s pulpit?

“Sweetie”

Posted by TRO on May 14, 2008

Can you imagine the feminist outcry if McCain did this?

Still, Barry probably doesn’t know any better considering all the sweeties he has in the press corps.

It can’t just be me that sees the freaky resemblance between Barry Obama and Bill Clinton when it comes to the swooning of liberal chicks over their good looks and charm.  So much so that they ignore any and all sexist behavior.  Behavior they would never tolerate from a conservative it goes without saying.

Weird ain’t it?  The resemblance that is.  Not the liberal chicks ignoring the behavior - that’s normal - just ask Ted Kennedy

Hat-tip to Ace.

You’ll Love It As Much As He Does

Posted by TRO on May 14, 2008

“Red Spaghetti” is a very simple, quick, inexpensive, and delicious meal that has been passed down from my grandmother to my family. We enjoy it two or three times a month and it never gets old. Here’s the recipe.

Brown two or or three pieces of bacon in a deep frying pain.

Take the bacon aside and pour off most, but not all of the grease.

Brown a diced onion in the grease.

Once the onion is browned and soft, crumple the bacon into small pieces and put back into the pan.

Add a can of diced tomatoes which you have broken up by hand or lightly mixed in a blender.

Sprinkle in garlic salt to taste, add two or three dashes of Tobasco sauce, and then simmer for a bit.

Pour over spaghetti pasta and serve with warm, buttered French bread and a nice fresh green salad.

It’s a small slice of rural, Southern cooking.

BTW, if you try it, let me know what you think.

Brunette Of The Week And A Ginger, Too**

Posted by TRO on May 14, 2008

Unknown woman in shower.

Blaze Starr

**  Sarah in the comments points out that Blaze Starr was a redhead. I knew this.  Really I did.  But I just saw the black and white photo and had a blonde moment and called her a brunette.  Not that she wouldn’t have made a great brunette.  But a redhead she was, which ain’t half-bad.
