WASHINGTON, March 30 (UPI) — Young Americans have a reverence for national institutions, traditions and family values, a U.S. survey indicates.
A survey of so-called “millennials” — those between 21 and 29 — revealed the group overwhelmingly said they support monogamy, marriage, the U.S. Constitution and the military, The Washington Times reported Sunday.
“We were completely surprised. There has been a faulty portrayal of millennials by the media — television, films, news, blogs, everything. These people are not the self-entitled, coddled slackers they’re made out to be. Misnomers and myths about them are all over the place,” said Ann Mack, who directed the survey and is the official “director of trend-spotting” at J. Walter Thompson, the nation’s largest advertising agency.
In addition to indicating 94 percent of millennials respect monogamy and parenthood and 84 percent revere marriage, the survey found 88 percent said they respect the U.S. Constitution, 84 percent respect the military and more than three-quarters believe in the “American dream.”
The survey of 1,250 adults was conducted online throughout January. No margin of error was reported.
Or doesn’t care. Even the article at the link in the preceding paragraph shows Hollywood trying to explain away the bad box office on anything but the fact that people do now want to see our military played as evil or incompetent or both. They want to see them as winners, which, by the way, is what they are.
So whatever the reason - willful ignorance, plain stupidity, or leftist agenda - Hollywood keeps making these losers and losing money in return.
In my never-ending quest to educate people on the “real” Barack Hussein Obama, I present this.
During his first run for elected office, Barack Obama played a greater role than his aides now acknowledge in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion– positions that appear at odds with the more moderate image he’s projected during his presidential campaign.
The evidence comes from an amended version of an Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire, filed under his name during his 1996 bid for a state Senate seat.
Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire.
They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize(d) his position.”
But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago non-profit group that issued it. And it found that Obama – the day after sitting for the interview – filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes adding to one answer.
So he has once again lied about misstated his past. Bad enough, but as Allah says over at Hot Air, it’s even worse than a politician fibbing to seem more moderate than he really claims. Bad for the Dems that is.
Those positions won’t even fly with a large number of Democrats, let alone in a general election. The Hillary Clinton campaign has already begun making the argument to superdelegates that Obama holds extremist views so out of touch with the American electorate that he can’t possibly win in November. The questionnaire will bolster that argument, especially on guns, where the Democrats had tried to soften their stance since Al Gore lost his home state of Tennessee in 2000.
Obama is a extreme leftist. His voting record in the Senate proves it. His past associations with leftists proves it. His own answers to this questionaire prove it. None of that matters, of course, to the leftists in the Democratic party, but it does matter to moderate Democrats and Independents and he cannot win the general election without them.
1. The racist, anti-semitic, anti-Italian, anti-American Reverend Wright, long-time mentor of Barack Hussein Obama, makes an appearance at a Chicago Catholic church and is welcomed with open arms. Video here.
Is the Catholic Church TRYING to make me leave in disgust? Granted I am not the best Catholic in the world, but I am sure there are plenty who are better than me who are also disgusted by this. Is this some Chicago thing? Because I just don’t get it.
2. Medals matter. More than ever when compared to Obama and Hillary.
4. Speaking of movies, the newest anti-Iraq war, anti-military, anti-American film, Stop-Loss, is bombing at the box office just like all the others before it. Of course, Hollywood thinks it is because the American people aren’t ready to watch a war movie while the war is going on - I guess all those successful WWII movies made during WWII were just accidents - but the fact is that the American people just don’t want to see movies where Americans are the bad guys and the military is incompetent and/or evil. They are smarter than Hollywood - they know lies when they see them. Vietnam is over, guys, deal with it.
4. Considering most guys think of a lower-back tattoo on a woman as a target, this seems like a bad idea.
A short film of some controversy and, as such, blogworthy. Watch it and judge for yourself if it is true or false or somewhere in between.
YouTube has a habit of removing videos that offend Muslims (one they don’t seem to suffer from when videos that may offend Christians are posted), so here is a linkto LiveLeak if this one goes missing.
One caution. The film shows disturbing and violent scenes. But then, jihad is by its very nature disturbing and violent.
UPDATE:
According to this report, the film was pulled by LiveLeak due to death threats. I still see the one I posted above, but it’s not the full version. To see the whole film go here.
Death threats? Intimidation? I guess the film was right after all.
This is the threat we face. This is the fight we must fight. Freedom or religious tyranny. And I don’t mean that so-called Christian tyranny of TV preachers and Catholic League boycotts, or Bush pushing through the Patriot Act that the left likes to whine about. I mean real tyranny. The kind that involves mass murder of innocent people, the violent subjugation of women and gays, and the destruction of everything that is free in our culture. That is what radical Islam brings. And if we don’t fight it now, we will be living under it in a not too distant future.
McCain was not my first choice as the GOP nominee, but I keep warming to him every time he says things like this.
“I will not play election-year politics with the housing crisis,” said Mr McCain. “It’s not the job of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they’re big banks or small borrowers.”
While I do not for a second have any sympathy for big banks who may have played fast and loose with figures and regulations and duped some people into buying mortgages they couldn’t afford, I also do not have any sympathy for those buyers who got in over their head because their stomachs were bigger than their eyes.
We bought our home 13 years ago and we have refinanced a few times since then to lower our payments, and every time we were offered those adjustable rate mortgages, we pushed them away like they were radioactive. They were a pipe-dream that has turned into a nightmare for many people, but frankly it is their own damn fault.
I am not a financial wiz by a long-shot, but even I knew they were dangerous. You simply don’t buy a house you cannot afford at the worst of times no matter how tempting it may be.
To sum up - I’m paying my mortgage, you need to pay yours and if you can’t it’s not the government’s job, using my taxes, to bail you out of it.
I haven’t played World of Warcraft in a little over two weeks now and I think I am in a slump. I need to get back to it, but I haven’t had time to raid - gamers will understand what raiding is - and PvP battlegrounds are just boring to me now. But I’ve got over 3000 gold to spend so I can’t just abandon the game. You just don’t stop playing when you have that much gold in game. It’s just not done.
My boys told me about this group a few weeks ago and I forgot to post about them until now. It’s innovative stuff and if you are fortunate enough to live near one of their events (they use volunteers), you can join in the fun. There are several good videos of their work at the site - they don’t just do “freezes,” some of their stuff is way funnier. Check it out.
BTW, military people will find this amusing. It’s the same kind of humor that homicide detectives, emergency room personnel, and so forth use to keep their spirits up.
2. If Obama is the nominee 28% of Hillary-supporting Dems will vote for McCain. That’s good news - for McCain. To be fair, 19% of Obama supporters would vote for McCain if Hillary is the nominee. Either way, McCain benefits which is a good thing.
3. Oops, Hillary’s pants are on fire. Those nasty videos get you every time. And speaking of videos, here’s a great one.
4. Just another funny video I found over at Groovy Vic’s place. The funny part starts at about the o.42 second point.
